General Questions

Are you locally owned?
Yes! We're a locally owned and operated Lawn Doctor franchise serving our community for nearly 40 years. We're backed by Lawn Doctor's national network while providing personalized local service.
Do I need to be home for my service?
No. As long as we have access to your property, we'll complete your application and leave detailed service information.
When do services begin?
Weather permitting, our goal is to complete everyone's first application by early May. After that, visits are typically every 4–6 weeks depending on weather and your lawn's needs.
How often do you service my lawn?
Most lawn programs include 5–6 visits throughout the growing season, with additional services available if your lawn needs them.
How long does a treatment take?
Most residential lawns take less than 15 minutes thanks to our specialized application equipment.
Will my service continue next year?
Yes. Your program automatically renews each season unless you let us know you'd like to make changes or cancel.

Lawn Care

How much should I water?
Aim for about 1–1½ inches of water per week, including rainfall. Water deeply and early in the morning whenever possible.
How high should I mow?
Mow at 2½–3 inches in the spring and fall, and 3–3½ inches during the summer. Never remove more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mowing.
Should I bag my grass clippings?
Usually not. Short clippings naturally break down and return nutrients to your lawn. Only bag clippings if they're clumping or excessively long.
Why does my lawn turn brown after mowing?
This is usually caused by mowing too short or using a dull mower blade. Keeping your mower blade sharp and mowing at the proper height will help prevent browning.
Can you get rid of moss?
No. Moss is typically caused by shade, poor drainage, or soil conditions. It must be physically removed before the underlying issue can be corrected.

Treatments

Are your products safe for children and pets?
Yes. Once the application has completely dried, your lawn is safe for normal activity. We follow all state regulations and label directions.
How long should we stay off the lawn?
Usually about 2 hours, or until the application has completely dried.
It rained after my treatment. Does it still work?
In most cases, yes. Rain typically does not reduce the effectiveness of our applications.
What was applied to my lawn?
After every visit, we leave a detailed service summary explaining what was applied and any recommendations.
Do you guarantee your work?
Absolutely. If you're not satisfied with your results, let us know. We'll inspect your lawn and work with you to make it right.
Are service calls free?
Yes. Existing customers on a full lawn program receive complimentary service calls for covered issues.

Lawn Results

When will I start seeing results?
You'll typically notice improvements after the first few applications, with the biggest improvements occurring as the season progresses.
How long does weed control take to work?
Most broadleaf weeds begin curling and dying within 7–10 days, depending on weather conditions.
Why do I still have weeds?
No lawn care program provides 100% weed control. Our goal is continual improvement throughout the season, and we'll gladly inspect any persistent problem areas.
Why is my neighbor's lawn greener?
Every lawn has different soil, sunlight, drainage, watering habits, and mowing practices. We focus on helping your lawn reach its full potential.
Why do you recommend additional services?
Every lawn is different, and weather changes from year to year. If we identify a problem like grubs, fungus, or compacted soil, we'll recommend solutions — but the decision is always yours.

Aeration & Seeding

When will I see results?
Most seed begins germinating within 5–7 weeks, depending on watering and weather. The biggest improvement is typically seen the following spring.
Do I need to water?
Yes. Consistent watering is the most important part of successful germination. We'll provide simple watering instructions after your service.
Do I need to prepare my lawn?
Please mark sprinkler heads, invisible dog fence lines, and any shallow utilities before we arrive.
When can I mow?
Wait until the new grass reaches about 4 inches tall before mowing with a sharp blade.
Can I seed in the spring?
Fall is the ideal time to seed. Spring seeding is possible but is generally less successful because of weed competition and summer heat.
How successful is overseeding?
Success depends largely on watering and aftercare. Customers who follow the recommended care instructions typically see excellent germination. If your lawn has extensive bare areas, our POW! Aeration & Seeding service provides even better establishment.

Other Services

When is grub prevention applied?
Grub prevention is typically applied during one of your summer applications between June and August.
I have moles. Does that mean I have grubs?
Not necessarily. Moles feed on many insects and earthworms, not just grubs.
Do you treat trees and shrubs?
Yes. We treat ornamental trees and shrubs up to approximately 15 feet tall.
Do you offer organic services?
We offer organic fertilizer and an organic tick and mosquito program. At this time, we don't offer fully organic weed or insect control because the available products don't consistently provide the results we expect in the Northeast.
Do you use liquid or granular products?
Both. We use whichever formulation provides the best results for the specific application.
